Franklin D. Roosevelt

" Government is a relation  of give and take, a contract, perforce, if we should follow the thinking out of which it grew. Under such a contract rulers were accorded power, and the people consented to that power on consideration that they be accorded certain rights." 
 Franklin D. Roosevelt  was a president with a great level of popular vote. He thought that the relation between the government and the people was a contract, in which they both give and received. He was famous for the Economic bill of right, in which funds were given to improve education, jobs, housing and health care.

Eugene V. Debs- " Revolutionary Unionism" (1905)

" The unity of labor, economic and political, upon the basis of the class struggle, is at this time the supreme need of the working class."  
This quote explained Debs stand of what he thought had to be change to help the working class. Debs thought that unity was need between the labor, political and economic system was necessary in order to help the working class. Since the age of 15 Eugene V. Debs started working in the railroad industry and later on helped created the American Railway Union and  eventually became its president.

W.E.B DuBois

  • Why does DuBois Believe the color line is the most important problem for American society? 
DuBois believe that the color line was American's greatest problem because of people individuality. People were individual rather than thinking that they were who they were because of society. There was a color barrier in the 20th century and people were very superstitious; were they will judge one another because of the race or appearance, before getting to know the person.
