Letter to John Adams(1813)
"There is also an artificial aristocracy, founded on wealth and birth, without either virtue or talents; for with these it would belong to the first class"
In the letter to Adams Jefferson describe that there are two types of aristocracy, an artificial and a natural. He describe the artificial aristocracy as belonging to the wealthy class, who had no talent and virtue. Ironically Jefferson supported the natural aristocracy, even thought he was part of the artificial one.
